Alan Thomson Managing Partner
With many years experience in the Middle East, Alan Thomson set up Unusual Rigging & Engineering LLC in Dubai in 2008. During 30 years of working in the entertainment industry, he has supplied both equipment and services to the Royal families of the United Kingdom, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the governments of Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Oman. His theatre clients have included Sir Andrew Lloyd Weber and Cameron Macintosh for productions such as Aspects of Love, Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Oliver and Sunset Boulevard, while industrial clients have included Imagination, British Airways, Philips, BMW and Mercedes.
For 17 years Alan worked alongside UK Armed Forces for the annual Royal tournament at London's Earls Court, an event that involved complete integration of civilian and military personnel to produce a unique form of entertainment. In 1995 he was responsible for the supply of all lighting equipment for the VE and VJ celebrations in London and in 2002 oversaw the theatrical lighting support for the Golden Jubilee Celebrations for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Prior to forming Unusual Rigging & Engineering LLC, Alan was a director of PRG Europe. For 15 years he was Managing Director of Theatre Projects Lighting Services, one of the premier theatrical lighting companies in the UK and also served in key management roles at Vari-Lite. |

Leon Ingram
Senior Rigger/Project Manager
Leon started his career with Unusual in the UK in 1998, initially working in the warehouse, then gaining experience in the motor shop, where he received manufacturers' training for the servicing and testing of lifting equipment. He then worked in the engineering workshop. He has been involved with many of Unusual's major projects, including the Golden Jubilee Celebrations for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and The Commonwealth Games, both in 2002, and La Machine. TV and film work includes performer flying, while theatre installations have included flying systems and winch mechanisms. Outside of the performing arts, Leon's experience includes suspending cars and flying trusses at various Motor Show, and suspending artefacts for museums. Leon moved to Dubai to work for Unusual Rigging in 2009 and has just attained his Level 3 Rigging Certificate, the highest level there is. |

Khalid Ali
Rigger
Khalid joined in 2011, having worked as a rigger for six years at Protec Production Technology. His responsibilities at Unusual Rigging include servicing and maintenance of chain hoists and rigging equipment, installing points and building ground support systems. With MEWP and Fork Lift training, Khalid will start his NRC training this year.

Reynaldo Lloveras jr
Rigging Assistant
Joined the company in 2009 and has proven to be a valuable member of the rigging team.

Rem Tandan
Rigging Assistant
Rem joined in 2010. Having previously worked as a security guard, he enjoys the challenges presented to him at Unusual Rigging & Engineering. He speaks three languages - English, Hindi and Nepali - which is a great asset to the team, and his 'Ghurka spirit' is leading him to undertake tasks far outside his comfort zone! |

Anabelle Esguerra
Engineer / CAD draughtsperson
Proficient in Auto CAD , Anabelle brings a detailed knowledge and understanding of structural steel to the company, ensuring that the designs prepared by Unusual Rigging & Engineering's project managers are strong and stable. Having joined the company in 2011, her work has included a water exhibition in Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture & Heritage (ADACH) and a screen support in Ferrari World. Previous experience includes projects such as City Center and the Cosmopolitan Resort and Casino, both in Las Vegas. |

Cindy Barrameda
Administrator
Tasked with ensuring the Unusual Rigging and Engineering offices run as smoothly as possible, Cindy joined the company in early 2009, bringing with her administration skills honed by managing VIP clients, including the President, at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in the Philippines. Cindy's role at Unusual Rigging & Engineering includes company and financial accounts, managing logistics, monitoring the inventory and ensuring all necessary permits and paperwork are up to date.

Rica Hasegawa
Archive Clerk
Helping Cindy Barrameda to keep the office under control, Rica joined in 2011. Previously with the Dubai Metro project, she has over five years' experience of administrative and secretarial roles.
