Unusual May and June 2008

Over the spring months, an extensive amount of design, planning and preparation went into the projects for May and June, when Unusual would be running at capacity, whilst retaining the capability to take on last minute and emergency work at short notice.

On the theatre front, the installation of Mary Poppins was completed and the show opened to standing ovations. Mamma Mia moved to Athens then Monte Carlo and Paris, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang from Sunderland to Cardiff and Cats into Caterbury prior to a 5 city tour in Italy. Zorro moved into The Garrick, Garsington Opera started and the real surprise was that Gone With The Wind had an exceeding short run at The New London with the derig and reinstatement being carried out at very short notice. The Lift was successfully test rigged at our premises in Northamptonshire prior to installation at Stratford Park and The South Bank. For further information about The Lift, log on to LIFT Website

Amidst the normal level of corporate presentation rigging was the Madrid Motorshow and two large projects using our large EP50 truss system. The Royal Windsor Horse Show had the added attraction of a Military Tattoo with Unusual providing all staging and structures. The 100th Anniversary of the Territorial Army on Horse Guards Parade on June 21st utilized the same system, where Unusual provided a turnkey production service for the client. Pictures of the event can be found on TA100 photographs. Select June 2008 and then TA100. Photographs are for viewing only and are copyright with Lou Stickland.
