Set in the idyllic countryside just outside Oxford, Garsington Opera is a venture, where the outdoor theatre is re-created every June for a season of Opera. Unusual erect a variety of steel masts around the site to support the tension wire roof, which covers the auditorium and stage.
“The Producers” is a heavy show squeezed into about a third of the depth of the Theatre Royal Drury Lane stage. Consequently, many pieces were hung at closer centres, and were heavier, than the house system could cope with.
Visibility of product is paramount. By definition, vehicles belong on the ground, so if a crowd of people are milling around and blocking the view, it is logical to consider using airspace to alleviate this problem.
There are three main elements to consider, when moving a person mid-air from one position to another. Firstly, the structure to which the suspension equipment is attached. Secondly, the equipment holding the person, including PPE and finally, the means by which the movement is controlled.

Images of hundreds of thousands of people on The Mall on the front pages of the National Newspapers on Monday 11th July brought back memories of The Queens Golden Jubilee in 2002. This year, the event was the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II. Unusual Services was engaged by The Ministry of Defence to provide production services for a weeklong programme of events.
The Yehudi Menuhin School in Surrey was founded by Yehudi Menuhin in 1963 to provide the ideal conditions in which musically gifted children might develop their potential to the full on stringed instruments and piano. The school now has a superb new 315 seat concert hall designed by architects Burrell Foley Fischer. Construction work started in 2004 and the Yehudi Menuhin Hall is due to be opened early in 2006.
